Música de España

a celebration of Spanish Baroque music

About the Project

The International Baroque Consort is currently celebrating the music of the Spanish Baroque era and music with strong Spanish ties. Our tour programme ‘Música de España’ features works by Joaquín Martínez de la Roca, anonymously composed music set to the words of Lope de Vega, Juan Francisco Escuder, Diego Ortiz, Sebastián Durón, and Giuseppe Antonio Paganelli. Our current tour in the United Kingdom has included concerts in Manchester in June and July 2023 as well as Glasgow and Dunblane in October of 2023.  We also plan to bring this music with us to Europe and the USA in 2025. In these concerts, we will showcase the unique and unfamiliar music of 17th and 18th century Spain, giving them a new lease of life! See our list below for upcoming and potential concerts in 2025.

  • 19 April 2025 - York Holy Trinity

  • April 2025 - Five Cities Baroque, United States

There are many ways for you to be involved! Come along to one of our concerts, workshops, masterclasses and learn more about this fascinating repertoire. Check back here for updates about tour dates and locations.

We are always in need of extra funds to help us with costs relating to instrument hire and transport, travel expenses, professional recordings, and the research, purchase and transcribing of musical scores (many of which are not readily available). Please consider supporting us as we endeavour to champion rare and unfamiliar music, bringing them to the attention of a wider audience. We are passionate about music education and our work with young people, and with your support, we will be able to hold more events and workshops which inspire and engage a range of ages and abilities.

We look forward to seeing you at one of our events this season.
